Around here, we start autumn a little bit early.

As you can imagine, the air in my house is full of delicious, right now.

She sells sea shells?

Aug. 26th, 2007 | 11:49 am

With everything going on,  and many unknowns on the horizon, continuing my work with jewelry has been like an anchor for me.

I am so grateful to Heather, the owner of a shop where my work is shown. She is always picking up things  that move her, that she thinks might inspire me. First it was a tiny glass leaf, then it was a glass serpent looking bead, and a round i promptly decided would have to be an apple.

Yesterday she called me because her grandmother brought her bags and bags of shells from Florida. She thought I could use them in my work, and offered as many as I wanted to take!

Here's what they looked like after I sorted them all out by size and type:

And this one is just stunning:

I'm Sarah, and I'm a Nature-holic

Aug. 12th, 2007 | 07:53 am

Yesterday, after the farmer's market, we went walking in the woods at a nature preserve. If you know me, or my work, you can probably see where this is going...

Apparently, J finds it irritating to constantly have to stop while I scour the ground for intriguing bits and unusual things.
Seriously, though?
It's mid-August. I only have a few more months of unfrozen, snow free ground in Maine! Gotta get while the getting is good!

Yay x2!

My camera battery charger has finally arrived, and I'm having a wee sale in the shop this evening!

Well...

Aug. 8th, 2007 | 07:23 pm

My camera is still awaiting the charger so  that I can:
a) Upload the pics of items already photographed, and list something new, finally!
b) Photograph the things I made in the days following my camera's hiatus onset
c) Photograph things in the future!!

Also, the school is not happening.  There were some serious withheld details regarding actual enrollment numbers, and at the last minute we determined we couldn't run it on the few enrollments we learned we still had.
I am looking for a job!

Lastly, here is one thing you haven't seen before that I made and photographed before The Hiatus:

The things that come in dreams...

Aug. 1st, 2007 | 06:59 am

I have a vague memory of dreaming, last night, that I was trying to check the messages at school. It was getting dark and I was starting to become afraid, but felt like I had to check the messages...something maybe about knowing when you need to let go and get out, and at the least exercising caution?
